Cia, Linda and Marcus share their ideas and insights as they continue their journey to become IT-professionals. Through genuine interest and reflections of their studies, meetings with the industry and covering university activities the three students give a subjective but balanced view of IT. Together they provide current and future students and the industry with a clear picture of what studies at the IT-university of Gothenburg entails today.
IT is everywhere at anytime. The science is so diffused that whether you are in your household or in your office, IT’s impact is mesmerising. While IT is still a young field of work and its growth is tremendous. What IT-students are taught today is ancient two years from now.
This is three students’ take at pin-pointing the future IT-professionals!
Linda Nilsson (tuss)
Linda is now an alumna, although she is going to continue her studies in the field of Computer Science to get a Masters degree. She takes an interest in improving her education and takes actively part in the student union. What makes her get up in the morning (except for coffee which is a must) is the thought of learning something new.
If she had a few extra hours every day she would spend them practicing her archery or scrapbooking to keep the moments she has experienced.
Marcus Ljungblad (archie)
Marcus finds change amazing and regularly contemplates professor’s presentation skills. Being in his second year of studies he has always been, is currently, and will likely always be in war with his calendar – there’s simply too much fun going on at the same time! His particular interest in the relationship between people and code makes him work hard to discover as much as possible of both worlds.
He also tries hard and usually lives by the practice “Leading by example.” That’s why he’s never late to meetings and is casually observed as being serious.
Cecilia Boström (Cia)
Cia is quite a genre of her own. Slightly autistic, yet smart. She loves working in front of a computer and dreams about having her own office where she can play loud music, drink tea and make a good living. Before she ended up at the university, she had a science fiction attitude towards IT. Now she is on her way of getting acquainted with reality. Although she had secretly hoped for everything to be like Dreamhack.
In addition to her studies, Cia devotes herself to art. With the latest PhotoShop installed on her laptop, she can be totally absorbed in her own world. She hopes for one day integrating her artistic skills with computer science and create something both clever and delightful. So, stay tuned!
